Nothing
Today we did nothing. I was glad that it was a dress down day though. I left early from class and was not talked to about my blog or about that to do for this blog. I do not know if the class was told to blog about something like maps. All I know is every class we have the homework is a blog. Today was a make-up day but I was already caught up and had nothing to do. so I really have nothing to write so I have to find a way to drag this out to one-hundred fifty words. When I walked into class I sat down waited til 1:15 and then I got out of class and went to get on my bus that led me to volleyball. during class I tapped my feet, sat still, almost fell asleep, and had, "lots of fun." from previous blogs I learned about nine lines down is when you reach 140-170 words. If that stays true then all I have to do is write this one last sentence and, and...

Drawing Maps
Today in class we drew maps, but before that we did nothing about 10 minutes. After the teacher got back in the class room he informed us that we had to draw different things on the map. We had to label the 7 contents and 5 oceans. The 7 continents were Africa, Asia, North America, South America, Australia, Europe, and Antartica. The 5 oceans are Pacific Ocean, Atlantic Ocean, Indian Ocean, Southern Ocean, and Arctic Ocean. We also had to find the Equator, and the Prime Meridian. The equator is an imaginary line drawn around the earth equally distant from both poles, dividing the earth into northern and southern hemispheres and constituting the parallel of latitude 0°. The Prime Meridian is the earth's zero of longitude, which by convention passes through Greenwich, England. The Earth is mainly ocean water and way less land.

Time Zones
I do not have much to write about but there is one topic on my mind. today we learned more about longitude and latitude, we learned how they go around in 360 degrees. We also learned that clocks go around in 360 degrees. Knowing this there should have been thirty-six time sones for one time zone every ten degrees on the globe. instead we have one every fifteen degrees, meaning twenty-four hour days. why do we have them, we do not need them. Personally I do not like time zones. I think that there should be all one time, something else we could work out. I think that the whole world should be under one twenty-four hour clock. It would have been a good decision a while ago, but now it would just cause mayhem. Everything would be off, and everything would have to be renewed and restored. If they did it back then, we could have adjusted by now.

To Agree Or To Disagree
I agree with the, "Organization of Cartographers for Social Equality." I think that the Mercator Map is significantly worse and incorrect than the Peters Projection Map. The Peters Projection Map is better in many ways and these people in the video explain why. There goal is for students in all schools to be taught the Peters Projection Map, instead of the Mercator Map. The Mercator Map was created in 1569 as a navigation tool for sailors and it would make sense to make a newer one. They say that Greenland is half the size of Africa on the Mercator map when in actuality it is fourteen times less than the size of Africa. They also state that Europe and America were drawn larger than they were, most likely because of powers. Germany is also in the completely wrong place on the Mercator Map.

Mercator and Peters Maps, and Scaling
In class we talked about the differences between two maps. These two maps being the Mercator map and the Peters projection. Mercaders' map is better for sailing Peters map is more accurate and has more precise locations of things. On the Mercator map Greenland is giant to what it actuality is and is just half the size of Africa. On the Peters map Greenland is believable size, which is considerably smaller, and Africa is longer but yet is bigger. there are also other changes like England getting smaller. Also, the United States is also smaller on the Peters map because on the Mercator map they made America look bigger, most likely because of power. There are some flaws in both maps because no map is perfect. We also learned about scaling and how thing are relate on a map to the real world. 1 inch could be 100 miles or 100,000 miles.

Early Maps, And Why Maps Are Nedded
Maps use longitude and latitude to showcase where certain things are. Each part on the Earth is unique because no two place has had the exact thing happen to them for the past 6,000 years, also the climate and animals there may have a big impact on the terrain. Early maps were very small and was not that accurate. The first map made was by a guy named Eratosthenes, idid not stretch out far from Greece. Today we also learned the difference between human geography, and geography. Geography is the study of where things are found or Earths surface and the reason for location. Human geography is the knowledge of places that affect people. like how some foods grow in warmer climates while some grow in a bit cooler climates. We also learned the study of maps is called cartography

Hopefully I did Good On That Test
I knew a some and knew the gist of most of them but I'm not sure if I got above a 90%. I want at least a 80% so I automatically have at the lowest an A in the class. I don't think I did bad, but I am not the one grading it so there is no way for me to know. In my opinion though the test was easy but the in the essay question I forgot about the second crime of Socrates. I knew one of them was corruption of Athens youth. The other I knew had to do with teaching of other Gods but I forgot the exact words so I just said, " teaching people to question beliefs." I am most likely going to get some points off for stating his second crime in a weird way. In all I don't think I dad bad on the test.

Socrates quote
In todays class we took one line of notes and then just sat and talked about a quote. " The unexamined life is not worth living". This is a quote from Socrates. I do not agree with Socrates because people still have a chance to change for the better. Yet people should live their life to the fullest. if someone told someone else to jump off a bridge they would most likely not do it, even if they had nothing to live for. Although some may do as you say, everyone has a purpose and they should at least attempt to fulfill it. If they choose to do nothing their whole life and have no impact that doesn't mean their life wasn't worth living. The unexamined life can be a role model life and show what people should do. It shows people to not be lousy but make your life good and fulfilling.

A Review
Todays Notes
Today was like a review. we went over everything about excellence we have gone over before. Then after we were caught up, we started talking about Socrates and what he did. He would teach people from about ages 15-20. He wouldn't force them to believe something, but he said to ponder over their beliefs. He said for them to question their religion, after he did this he was convicted of two major crimes. He was sentenced to as trial if he was found guilty he would die. He was found guilty and he pled guilty, still the vote was (279guilty- 221 innocent). The vote was from 500 citizens of Athens, citizens could only be male. When his friends were about to break him out he stayed in his cell to show that democracy worked and that the people have the power. The way he died was through a cup of poison.

A Discussion of Democracy
Todays Notes
Today we talked about democracy and how the Greeks used it. The Greeks made democracy in 508 BCE. We talked how the Greeks were ruled by the people. We learned how democracy helped the people do better and how the people gave power to democracy. I liked how back in the day they did this, like for voting for their leader, but in todays world than is not what I feel we replicated. I do not feel that the people have as much power as we used to. Now whenever we vote for someone it goes to the electoral college. sure we have a little bit of a say in it, but if they don't like what we have to say they can dismiss the idea. for instance, if the electoral college did not like Trump he would have never become president. There are some other differences but none worse than the electoral college in my opinion.

A Message to Garcia
Joey Kutcher
Today's Class
Today we learned more about a message to Garcia and what it meant. We learned that it was published in 1899 as a Pham-let and then later a book. The book had many confusing sentences that we went over in class. The book has also been made into a movie twice. when it was published the book went everywhere to the pint where 40million people had it. We also learned more about Elbert Hubbard. We also learned who was president during that, and also that he was assassinated. The president was William McKinley. His years in office were from 1897-1901. we learned new words like arate. some people have more initiative and some have a worse initiative. Elbert wanted the people with low initiate to focus more and become hard workers. Elbert was stating if you can't bring a simple message to a person then why would people hire you.

Elbert Hubbard
A Message To Garcia
This passage is a little confusing when reading. What I interpret from it was that a moan not given to do their work will not succeed, yet a man willing to do his work will be wanted everywhere. A men that will not talk back and never question his boss unless his boss is unclear, yet most always does the right thing. I also interpret from this that if a boss is mean that nobody will want to work for him because he could be very harsh. He could boss his employees around and not do any of the work themselves. A boss could also be abusive, racist, and even sexist. Out of this the main message I got was that to succeed you must work, and it must be your best work. Though that may not have been the intent of the author those are all the things that I took out of "A Message To Garcia".

First Days of School
I don't know how blogs work so I'm going to do something like a summary. On the day I had practice before the next day I asked upper class men about the school. Then came orientation. Orientation was fun and going around to most classes meeting the teachers and other students. Although it was only a few minutes it was still fun and it made me a little less nervous. Then, we made PBJ's. We got to socialize with new people and work in a group.
Then came the first day of school. I was super nervous, but I did have my friend Ben Pika to tell me everything. Ben also drove me to school. The first class I got to was Spanish, I like Spanish and it will probably be my favorite subject this year. My least favorite will probably be English because i'm bad at grammar. I think at JC I will have a very fun time.
To me this does not look like much but I checked the word count and it is 154 words not including this little thing at the bottom.
