Mr. Schick Read Carefully

I have loved this class for the semester. I loved how You/Mr. Schick interacted with the class. I
had worried in the beginning of the year because I am a freshman, and new. When I got to class,
a thought came to me, will my teachers be mean or nice. Turns out you were fun and nice, it was a
great time in your class. I like the rule of no video games because it makes us pay attention. this
year has been great in all my classes. I can't really think of anything to do better. I love how
in your class we can go off on a tangent and still learn life lessons. I saw how people focused on
your lessons because we were involved in it. We could  give opinions related to the topic. In your
class it was sometimes annoying when everybody started talking. This is my goodbye.

Religion Paragraphs

Christianity was founded by Jesus after his death. Christianity traces its root to Judaism but they believe Jesus was their savior. Christians believe Jesus was both human and divine, but there are many different denominations of Christianity with slightly altered beliefs. They also believed in the 12 apostles and Saint Paul who spread the word of Jesus right after his death. They believe in a holy book called the Bible. The Pope nowadays is head of the church, and priest are authorities. Christianity is prominent in Europe, the Americas, and Southern Africa. Christianity is a monotheistic religion.

Islam was founded by Muhammad. Islam has 1.5 billion adherents, and they are also called Muslims. Islam's holy book is the Q'ran, the Q'ran contains the five pillars of faith.  Shahadah, Salat, Hajj, Zakat, and Swam. Each pillar has a meaning, they are the testimonial, prayer, almsgiving, fasting, and pilgrimage. Most notably is the Hajj (pilgrimage). The Hajj is the journey that they each have to make at least once in their life where they go to worship at a cube in Mecca. There are two denominations, the Sunnins and the Shiites. Muslims are mainly in Indonesia, Middle East, and North Africa. Islam is a monotheistic religion.

Hinduism is a special religion because there is no founder. hinduism has 1.1 billion adherents. The Hindu holy book is called the Vedas, the Vedas is a big collection of songs. The word Veda means knowledge. It is believed that the Vedas were orally revealed by Brahma to certain sages, who heard them and passed them down in an oral tradition. hinduism is found in India and Nepal. Hinduism is a polytheistic religion.

Buddhism was founded by the Buddhist who was Siddhartha Guatama. Buddhism has 500million-1.5billion adherents. Mainly in Asia, China, Nepal, Japan. four main denominations, the Tibetan, Zen, Theravada, and Amisist. Buddhist believe in the four Nobel truths. 1- there is suffering, 2- attachment to desire is origin of suffering, 3- the creation is suffering, 4- eightfold path will get rid of suffering. You can be Buddhist and also be any other religion at the same time.

Judaism is the root religion of Islam, and Christianity. All of them believe they came from decedents of Abraham. There are 14-18 million Jews. They are mainly in the United States or Israel. They have a holy book called the Torah. The Torah refers the the five books. These books are Genesis  Exodus, Levictus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. Jews are set apart from Christianity because they do not believe Jesus was a savior, but they believe he was a person, but not the savior.

Classwork

There are four Hindi books. First there is the Rig-Veda. This book is the knowledge of the hymns of praise, for recitation. this has 1028 hymns. Then there is the Sama-Veda. This book is the knowledge of Melodies, this is for chanting. It has 1017 hymns. The next book is Yajur-Veda. This book is the knowledge of sacrificial formula, for liturgy. It has 1875 hymns.    Indulgences are a ticket straight to heaven, or at least be further up in the line of purgatory. You had to pay for indulgences with money. Martin Luther did not like indulgences because he thought anybody and everybody should be able to get into heaven, he also knew it did not fit within any part of the Bible. My research did not lead me anywhere (I did no research this, I learned about this in 8th grade).

the Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca that takes place in the last month of the year, and that all Muslims are expected to make at least once during their lifetime. Hajj is the fish and final pillar of wisdom.
Muslims would go to Hajj to worship around a cube and pray.

Exams

Today Mr. Shick was not in class so we had a substitute teacher. Today in class we worked on our exams. I am almost done mine but I do not know if he wants them tomorrow or next Friday. In my mind I want to play it safe so I am going to finish and print it out tonight to make sure I do not turn it in late. I did the essay talking about how migration has affected us. In my opinion it is not bad, but I am not fond of immigration to our country. I do not like how they are changing our culture and the way we live. They help us because they do the jobs nobody wants to do for a really cheap price which is good for the economy, but in some cases illegal. I am going to get working on my essay right now so I do not forget.
